This is a DOS program. It is not specifically designed to run under
Windows. If you have a sound board you'll find that the sound is garbled
when running under Windows. If you feel you must run this software from
Windows, here are the steps for Windows installation:
1. Install the program on your hard drive using the
install.exe program and the instructions that came with
the disk.
2. Start Windows then select the File option.
3. Select the New option from the File menu.
4. Select the Program Group command button.
5. Type "Motes Ed. Soft." in the Description slot.
6. Select OK. You should now have a program Group called
Motes Ed. Soft.
7. Select File again from the main Window.
8. Select New again.
9. Select the Program Item command button.
10. Type the program description then select OK. For example,
type School-Mom or Jurassic Spelling, etc.
11. Type the path and filename in the Command Line slot.
For example "c:\mes\sm.exe" for School-Mom if you
placed it in the MES directory.
12. Type the path name in the Working Directory slot.
For example "c:\mes"
13. Click on the Change Icon command button.
14. Type the path and filename for the icon file. The icon's
file name is SCLMOM.ICO for School-Mom and it is on the
disk/diskettes you received. The icon's installed directory
will probably be the same as the School-Mom directory, unless
you placed it in another location. It will probably be
C:\MES\SCLMOM.ICO for the path and filename. Now click on
OK and you're done. Note: you don't have to have an icon.
Windows will create a generic one if you don't have one.
15. To install an icon for the School-Mom Utilities repeat the same
process but use CHANGE.EXE instead of SM.EXE. There is no
pre-designed icon for this utility. Windows will use a
generic icon for it. Steps 13 and 14 are not necessary.
